Complete Description:This Issue Brief notes that tax-time is an opportunity for individuals and researchers: most people file taxes each January-April, within a relatively short six to ten week period, use the same forms and have to organize similar sets of documents. Tax time may be the one time each year some people can fully see their financial position in a summary format. Many tax filers also may receive refunds which can generate choices about consumption and saving. The brief suggests considering developing and promoting non-tax services as part of the tax preparation process or post season. It reviews (and links to) different benefits and services relevant to consumers at this time as well as the opportunity for data collection for needs assessment.
